During carrying out of farming activities to protect cotton and other crops from pests farmers of Tashkent region effectively use a biological method not for the first year.
This season in farm fields of the region they set free tens of millions of useful insects, which exterminate plant pests. In August, in 47 active biolaboratories they procured nearly 500 kilograms of Trichogramma, 145 million individuals of Gabrobrakon and 233 million individuals of Lacewing. Today they land these lively "orderly" in lands of 3100 farms specializing in raw cotton cultivation.
- Plant protection chemicals used before were expensive and less effective, since they simultaneously exterminated useful insects and caused a considerable damage to the environment, says a specialist of the regional department of Agriculture and Water Resources Hakim Murodov. - Another important advantage of the biometod is that it increases cotton crop capacity and also eliminates transportation and field cultivation costs. Thousands of useful insects are placed in a small glass vessel, which, unlike chemicals, can be easily delivered to any lot, where they independently give a battle with pests.

Uzbekistan - recognized center of textile industry.
Yesterday the fifth Central Asian International Exhibition "Textile Machinery and Technologies - CAITME-2009" began in the National Exhibition Complex "Uzexpocenter".
170 companies from 17 countries present their products here. Everyone can get to know about latest technologies for processing of textile raw materials, modern equipment, spare parts, technical accessories and parts for production lines, dyes, chemicals and other components for textile industry, furniture, haberdashery, and of course, samples of finished products, presented in stands.
As noted representatives of the company ITE Uzbekistan, which is the organizer of these events, for many centuries our country has been a recognized center of textile and light industries. Therefore CAITME holds the largest exhibition of this profile in Tashkent.
This year they observe an active interest of not only European but also Asian manufacturing companies to our market, which witnesses the growing significance of Uzbekistan in the textile world.
This recognition is achieved in many respects through the policy of our country leadership, aimed at support of textile and light industries. As repeatedly emphasized the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, it is necessary to trade not only cotton, but also finished goods with high added value. Only last year they established more than twenty new textile enterprises with a capacity of cotton processing of more than 50 thousand tons. In the next 1-2 years they plan to attract at least additional $ 200 millions to the industry.
However, there are no high-quality products without high quality raw materials and equipment, with which they are produced. And from this point of view, the exhibition of textile equipment and technologies is of particular importance, especially in light of the Anti-crisis program, which provides for production modernization and introduction of innovative processes.

First service center for textile industry opened in Ashgabat.
The first service center for repair of technological equipment and spare parts for cotton spinning enterprises was put into operation in Ashgabat on the basis of the foreign trade company "Turkmendokma".
The new center represents German companies "Oerlikon Schlafhorst" and "Truetzschler" whose multi-purposes machines and equipment were installed in Turkmenistan's leading textile complexes and cotton spinning mills.
The service center also represents Swiss company "Uster" specializing in manufacturing laboratory equipment to determine physical and mechanical properties of cotton fiber and cotton yarn, and special equipment for quality control.
Belgian "NVA & A Demeulenaere & Co" is operating in Turkmenistan on behalf of the three above mentioned companies.
As the Turkmen State News Agency (TDH) reports citing the Ministry of Textile Industry, the opening of the service center will make it possible for state and private companies within the industry to promptly acquire spare parts for processing equipment at the original price and without mediation. They will also have the opportunity to establish maintenance of new machines and mechanisms, as well as train local staff directly at the manufacture plants with the assistance of foreign experts.
Negotiations are currently under way to open similar service centers in the country representing other major suppliers of textile equipment such as Italian companies "Savio", "Marzoli", "Promatech SpA", the ministry noted.

Every day is valuable.
On these days every rural worker thinks constantly about cotton. Some are engaged in pruning, others in irrigation, machine operator try to complete the cultivation in time, and entomologists monitor each bush to prevent the emergence and reproduction of agricultural pests. Everyone knows that the fate of the future crop depends on the quality and timeliness of these agricultural activities.
This year we set aside 42.4 hectares of sown area in our farm for cotton. Having sown precocious, high-yielding grades in the spring, our employees work diligently in the fields to get a good harvest. And it promises to be good: there are 15-16 bolls on every bush. According to our calculations, this will result in 36-38 centers of cotton from each hectare.
To ensure the even growth of cotton plants they pay special attention to the quality of plant feeding, watering and pruning, row-spacing processing and other activities. For example, on average, we added 800 kilograms of mineral and five tons of local fertilizers to each hectare. Moreover, we fed cotton plants by the sharvat method, thanks to which we save the irrigation water without a damage to crop yields.
As you know, August is the most important time for cotton growers. This is the time, when cotton bolls form and ripen. Every August day, every its hour is important to us. To date we have completed another stage of pruning, and mirabs started the fourth watering. To prevent the soil hardening between watering times we conduct cultivation twice or trice. At the same time, we clean up fields of weeds, fight against agricultural pests; resulting in the lack of pests in fields.
This year we plan to pick and sell 156 tons of raw cotton to the state, which is much more than the contractual obligations. I think that we can achieve the intended purpose with the effective support of the district Khokimiyat, supply and service structures, and management specialists of agriculture and water resources. This will be our adequate response to the full assistance of the State Head in the development of farm movement in the country.

Farmers count on a success.
This season heavy spring rains postponed the beginning of cotton sowing and complicated farmers’ care for the crop shoots. But, despite the vagaries of nature, farmers of Djizak region, like farmers in other regions of the country, did every effort to count on a high result of their labor in the end.
On these August days, the period of crop accumulation, employees of our farm take careful care for plants. In particular, they have already conducted the first cotton watering and additional nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizing.
Today, in the cotton field of more than 30 hectares of irrigated arable land, they finish the plant pruning; then they will proceed to further farming activities.
The formed 5-6 and more bolls on each bush give a special mood to the work and inspire confidence in the success. According to the specialists of a monitoring group of the district khokimiyat, who often visit fields and help in solving of problems, the output of each hectare of the cotton field will be no less than 32-35 centners, which exceed the designated plan. This means that at the end of the season the farm may receive additional revenue necessary to support facilities and equipment and increase the life quality of every employee of the farm.

Investments bring a return.
Textile occupies the larger volume of the export structure in the Andijan region. The presence of a number of joint ventures, equipped with modern technologies, quality raw materials, and relatively low cost prices of products make the yarn of local textile workers attractive.
Within the framework of the Anti-crisis program, exporting enterprises actively look for new markets. The Andijan Regional Department of the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trading, gives them a great help in that.
With the assistance of state foreign trading companies “Markazsanoateksport”, “Uzinterimpeks”, “Uzmarkazimpeks”, “Uzprommashimpeks”, samples and technical specifications of Andijan textile products were represented to a number of foreign companies. As a result, "Madanyattekstil Ltd." and Joint-Stock Company "Asakatekstil” concluded contracts for the supply of goods worth USD 330,000 to Russian company "Bubnov". A part of the products worth USD 168,000 has already been shipped to the customer. Along with this, company “Uzmarkazimpeks" sold the products of joint venture “Tagustekstil” worth USD 350,000.
Overall, according to the territorial investment program of the region, they drew investments to the amount of USD 3.9 millions. They created 81 jobs. Basically, these funds are aimed at the development of enterprises, manufacturing weaving products, construction materials and food products.

At the expense of investments .
Within the framework of fulfillment of measures stipulated by the Anti-crisis program, they modernized productions in several large enterprises of Syrdarya.
The Uzbek-British joint venture "Saruna Textile”, located in Gulistan, is one of the modernized productions. In the workshops of the JV they installed the imported equipment worth about 90 thousand dollars, allocated from its own resources and attracted investments. As a result of such measures, the output of the enterprise has increased to 700 thousand pairs of hosiery a year, which will not only meet the needs of the region's population better, but increase the share of the products supplied for export.
- The upgrading of equipment and facility has increased the output of knitted products to 174 percent in comparison with the same period of the last year, - said the deputy chief of the economics administration of Syrdarya region Abduhalil Islamov.

Components of success.
Difficult weather conditions, long rains during the period of mass cotton planting noticeably complicated the caring process of cotton crops. This means that on these August days cotton growers must make every effort to obtain expected harvest thanks to the good care. No wonder, people say: the month of Asad has come, cultivate cotton well. Djizak farmers are sure: those who plead the bad weather, are deeply wrong. The intensive care, adherence to farming rules, finally, dedicated work of peasants will help to overcome the underdevelopment and achieve a record productivity.
This season we cultivate cotton in 63 hectares. The condition of cotton plants and their development is quite satisfactory: there are 5 - 6 fruit elements of mature green bolls on every bush. If during August we perform all agricultural activities, scheduled for this period, well and in time, the same quantity of fruit elements will add to each bush.
Bearing in mind that cotton plants should "get" the necessary maturing temperature, we do rely on the "sharvat" watering now. The advantage of such watering is obvious: the water, run through organic fertilizers, adds warmth to the soil and nourishes it at the same time. In total, since the beginning of the season we have added to the soil nitrogen fertilizers at a rate of 600 kilograms per hectare, phosphoric fertilizers at a rate of 199 kilograms per hectare, as well as regularly cultivate the crops against pests.
Machine operators U. Isroilov and I. Urokov cultivate the soil according to all farming rules (processing of the space between rows and simultaneous soil loosening). The rest of the farm workers are busy with pruning and weeding now. As a result, cotton plants develop well, gain the strength; green bolls become heavier day after day.
To achieve the expected result, it is necessary to water the crops, at least, three more times. Night watering is considered the most effective. They say, a seasoned peasant can determine the time of a field watering by the condition of cotton plants. The farm mirabs Abduraim Kuldoshev, Kurbon Usanov, Isomiddin Eshmatov are aware of all advantages of night watering and generously share their experiences with young farmers. At the beginning of the year we concluded a contract, according to which we planned to get 37.6 centners of raw cotton per hectare. After a reconsideration of our ability, we decided that we can increase the productivity to 40 centners. I think our plans will come true. They do not say for nothing: walk and ye shall reach.
